The kind folks at Renaissance Learning have donated 100 NEOs to our Young Writers Program. The NEOs come with a built-in word processing program, enough memory to store a 50,000 word novel, and can run for 700 hours on just three AA batteries—definitely long enough for a NaNoWriMo writing marathon! They weigh less than two pounds and are rugged little beasts that kids really love.
Each November, we will loan four classrooms 25 computers for their kids to use during their novel-writing adventure.
If you believe that your classroom of novelists could benefit from the use of 25 NEOs next November, please send a request directly to Tavia[at]nanowrimo[dot]org. In the email, please include your name, NaNoWriMo Young Writers Program username, the name and phone number of your school or library, and an explanation of why the NEOs would be helpful to your classroom.
Once we choose deserving classrooms, we will ship the computers to your class free of cost! Renaissance Learning has agreed to cover the cost of shipping them to you. Plus, they will provide you with return shipping labels with the NEOs to make it easy to send them back.
All requests must be received by October 10, 2009. NEOs will be mailed out to you by October 21.
