What are you doing to get ready?

Posted by: Chris Angotti on 10/12/2012

Don't want to alarm you, but we're at under three weeks until NaNoWriMo begins.

Here are a few ideas to help you get ready.

Be sure you've contributed to the participant pep survey. We'll start posting advice and loading the Dare Machine next week, and we want your ideas!

Try out the Word-Count Goal Calculator. Many participants are finding their new targets—sometimes more challenging than expected—with this easy, interactive tool.

Meet your fellow writers. There are an absurd amount of fun conversations going on in the forums. Say hello to novelists with similar interests and make writing buddies! (That peer motivation will be helpful in a few weeks.)

And when you're ready to get down to serious (well, not too serious) business, our customizable workbooks are waiting for you to fill them with your brilliant novel ideas.

Next week, we'll also be collaborating with nanowrimo.org on the first annual NaNoPrep Day. On Wednesday, October 17, check here and on Twitter for participants of all ages sharing their techniques for the month ahead.

Sound good? It's time to jump into this thing.
