Camp Care Package: Finish each day in the middle.

Author Taran Matharu takes over as your first Camp Counselor this April! Here's his second Camp Care Package:

This is a secret I wish I’d been told a long time ago: try and finish writing each day mid-sentence, mid-paragraph, mid-chapter. It's significantly easier to start writing on a half-finished sentence or scene, allowing you to easily pick up where you left off and quickly get back in the zone. Equally, if I finish a chapter, I always make a start on the next one while the writing juices are flowing, no matter how tempting it is to stop there. That way, I don't start my next session staring at the blank page of a new chapter.

What's up at Camp?

  • Participate in an Insta Live chat Mondays in the morning, Wednesdays in the afternoon, or Fridays during lunch (all times USA Pacific). Follow @nanowrimo on Instagram for more details!

  • What kind of NaNoWriMo Camper are you? Take this quiz to find out.

  • Missed our Virtual Write-In last Wednesday? Write along with the archived video! Or schedule a reminder to catch the next one

Today's Writing Dare

Stop your writing session today in the middle of a sentence. That's right - don't finish it! No period, question mark, exclamation point, nothing. Jot down some notes about what's going to happen next if you're afraid you'll forget. Then tomorrow, when you start writing, see how much easier it is to dive into your story.
