You wielded your red pen—let us roll out the red carpet! Celebrate your novel and your hard work during our NaNo-Novel Premiere Week. Try out some of the dares below, and tell us how it went on social media or in the YWP forums. If you tag us on Instagram (@nanowrimo), we might add your post to our Red Carpet highlights!

  • Monday: Print your manuscript!

  • Tuesday: Post a short excerpt of your novel on social media or the forums!

  • Wednesday: Let someone you trust read a chapter of your novel.

  • Thursday: Participate in a reading or an open-mic (even if it's just to your cats).

  • Friday: Practice your pitch! Sum up your novel in 2-3 sentences.

Don't forget about our "Now What?" Young Writers Contest!

Revise and submit a 400-word excerpt of your novel by Saturday, February 29 for the chance to be featured on our blog, website, and social media. Submissions are open now!

Exciting news! We're over-the-moon excited to announce that author Kat Zhang will be judging our contest finalists! She is an author of books for teens and children. Her Young Adult trilogy, The Hybrid Chronicles, is published with HarperCollins, and she has two Middle Grades, The Emperor’s Riddle and The Memory of Forgotten Things, as well as two picture books, Amy Wu and the Perfect Bao and sequel Amy Wu and the Patchwork Dragon with Simon & Schuster. She wrote her first novel for NaNoWriMo a great many years ago!
