NaNoWriMo 2017 is less than a month away, which means it's time to stock up on writing snacks, pick out your noveling power outfit, and (most importantly) announce your 2017 NaNoWriMo novel on the YWP site!

To officially announce your novel:

1. Go to your Dashboard or View All Novels page.

2. Click "Yes, I accept" to the "Take the Challenge" box. Make sure you're accepting the official NaNoWriMo dare (not a personal challenge).

3. Fill out as many details as you can about your upcoming novel. You can always change this info later, so don't stress out too much. If you need help figuring out a good word-count goal, check out the Word-Count Goal How-To.

4. Go to the writing space to brainstorm ideas, plan out characters, freewrite, outline your story, or just jot a couple motivational notes to yourself for when the writing gets tough later in November. You can announce your novel today (which means get everything set up for writing), but you can't actually start adding chapters until November 1. That means nothing you add to the writing space now will count towards your word-count goal.
